Perfect outfits kind of bore me. In fact, I have a firm belief that perfection is highly over-rated, in just about everything. I’m fascinated instead by what’s quirky or a little left-of-center or what’s shining and swoops around me. And I love an expressive and stylish outfit that’s unique in how it comes together – like when clear orange and hot pink set each other off or when the points and angles in patterns make the visual link.
It could be because it’s extraordinarily difficult for me to achieve anything polished. It could be because I lack patience. But I’m over feeling badly about it. It’s much less work to take a breath, get to know my values and strengths, locate what keeps me up at night, practice my strange and wonderful talent of creating outfits and find other ways to do things I’m kind of bad at.
In fact, I’m going to share with you one of my imperfect projects! Included here is my latest (and umpteenth) attempt at creating a video for marketing, social media and my website. It’s so not perfect! It’s quirky, not so technically well done and there is a definite moment when I’m left-of-center from the camera. It’s also intelligent and teaches you principles of art and design that can help you make an outfit that is expressive of yourself instead of what’s merely in the stores or on sale.
So take a look, have a giggle, try out some of the tips and make yourself an outfit you adore rather than one that’s perfect. I will keep on trying, with great personal style and hardly any attempt at perfection, to do better and learn the ins-and-outs of videos.
